The construction industry pours endless amounts of money, time, and effort into physical health and safety, but barely any at all into mental health and safety. The CDC issued a 2023 report on rates of suicide by industry and reported that construction remains the second-highest across all industries. This presentation will cover the current state of mental health in the construction industry, break the barriers of stigma and shame through storytelling and advocacy, and offer recommendations to companies and organizations on actionable steps toward building a culture that is supportive of mental health.
